I purchased this coffee table at a yard sale. It was in pieces and in a box.
I purchased this mailbox at an auction in Timberville, VA for $13. I was impressed that someone many years ago took a regular mailbox and added galvanized metal to it to make this vehicle. I thought it would look neat outside the garage at the Mountain House. However, it was in very rough shape. The windows were gone, the paint was bad, the bumper was gone, 1/2 of the wheels were gone, etc. This is the completed project.
This Silvertone radio from 1941 was also purchased at auction. I replaced miniature lights, replaced the special string to make the runer turn, and refinished the cabinet. It works!
Bought this chair an the old mill in Quicksburg, VA for $3. By the wood, design, and depth of the seat, the owner thought it dated to the 1890's.
Just starting on this one.
My CD cabinet I made out of black walnut that I had milled after picking out the rough planks on a farm in Catharpin, VA. I made two of these.
Below is one of them holding CD's next to the ticket booth which houses the stereo.
Two oriental chairs which I got for free because they were quite broken. Now fixed and working on the refinishihng part!
Some pictures of a ticket booth from somewhere around the 1890's we think. Got this from a shed of an antique store in Centreville that was closing. It had been harmed by water damage. The owner said it was one of three pieces that went together to form the booth. It is in the mountain house after a six month renewal! Probably from 1890's.
Old Washington Times newspaper stand, a retirement gift from John Butterfield. I repainted it, except for the decals, added new plexiglass, and keep some journalism mementoes in it!
